Suicide Prevention Funding
Following a successful funding bid Hartlepool Sea Cadets have been awarded £3,750 to recruit and train 5 brand new volunteers in RYA Power Level 2, RYA Safety Boat and RYA Sailing Levels 1, 2 & 3.
The project aims to recruit new adult volunteers and to fast-track them through these courses, which will be delivered at Hartlepool Marina, with the overall aim of them becoming qualified Power boating and Sailing Instructors themselves. Once qualified, the volunteers will use their skills to train our young people and other volunteers in power boat handling and sailing skills. They will also have the opportunity to branch out into other areas such as kayaking/canoeing, rowing and windsurfing.
The funding has been provided by the NHS Suicide Prevention Fund which aims to reduce the number of suicides across Teesside. Through research they have identified that those who are most vulnerable to suicide are males over the age of 25 years old, and therefore this project will be exclusively for volunteers who fall into this category. For females or those aged 18 - 25 who are keen to get involved, we're still keen for you to join us and you should get in touch to see what options we have available.

Rowing Success for Hartlepool
Cadets from Hartlepool were delighted yesterday as two of our teams secured first place at the District Rowing Competition.
The competition, which was held at Stockton, saw units from across Teesside District (Hartlepool, Stockton, Middlesbrough, Guisborough and Redcar) compete in a series of rowing races along the River Tees.
Hartlepool unit entered two teams and both secured first place, putting Hartlepool unit first overall in the district.
Both teams will now go on to represent Teesside District at the coming Area Rowing Competition which is due to be held in Scotland.
Royal Marines Cadets grab third place!
Congratulations to the Hartlepool Royal Marines Cadets who traveled to Redford Barracks, Scotland on Saturday 1st April to take on other detachments at the Area Drill Competition.
The competition sees detachments from across North East England & Scotland demonstrate precision whilst marching and carrying out drill movements, in the hope they will win the chance to represent Northern Area at the National Drill Competition.
After a fierce competition Hartlepool were successful in securing medals and came home in third place! Congratulations to all involved.
Remembrance Parade 2016
Cadets and adult volunteers from Hartlepool Sea Cadets were out in force on Sunday 13th November 2016 for Hartlepool's Remembrance parade.
The units band led the parade to the cenotaph in the centre of town where a service was held and wreaths were laid. During the service buglers of the unit's band sounded "The Last Post" which began a minutes silence and was observed by everyone present.
Not only were the band on parade, but we also had other cadets and adult volunteers marching in the parade along with members of other cadet forces, the armed forces, veterans, public bodies and other groups/organisations.
The service ended with a march past and then a reception hosted by the navy club.
